Police at Linden have arrested a young man who allegedly carried out a daring robbery in the Mackenzie area on Tuesday.

Reports out of Linden state that just before a lunch an employee of Gizmos and Gadgets Linden branch was on her way to a commercial bank in the area when she was attacked and robbed at gunpoint by the suspect.

The man reportedly snatched a bag containing over $500,000 from the woman and ran into a nearby street where he hijacked a car which was at a wash bay and sped out of the area.

A number of brave persons gave chase behind the car as they contacted the police.

Police officers who were on patrol in the area quickly joined the chase and cornered the alleged gunman in the Kara Kara area where he was arrested. Several shots were fired behind him before he stopped the stolen car and surrendered.

He is in Police custody at Linden. His identity has not been revealed.
