As Guyana prepares to make it’s case before the International Court of Justice and put an end to the border controversy with Venezuela, local efforts have commenced to raise more awareness, particularly among Guyanese youths.

With no intention to replace the popular 1970s hit, ‘Not a Blade of Grass’, local artiste Blaze Anthonio has collaborated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to produce a new single that focuses on the border controversy.

During the launch of the song “Guyana Our Own” in the studios of the National Communication Network on Thursday, the young dancehall singer was joined by Minister of Foreign Affairs Carl Greenidge and Government Advisor on Border Matters, Sir Shridath Ramphal.

In his own words, Anthonio said the song is intended to mobilise Guyanese against the threat to land and water resources.

He has received the full support of Government with Minister Greenidge declaring that he was very impressed with the song quality and lyrics.

He called on Guyanese to embrace it just as they have embraced ‘Not a Blade of Grass’.

Sir Shridath urged the youths to get more involved in efforts to protect Guyana’s territorial integrity as they stand the be the beneficiary of the success that lies ahead.

Foreign Minister, Carl Greenidge said Guyana is currently preparing to submit it’s case to the ICJ, describing it as a process in train.

Sir Shridath also expressed confidence in Guyana ability to secure a victory, saying the day Venezuela has tried to avoid has arrived.

Guyana is now set to finally put an end to the controversy that has hindered it’s development for several decades.
