Lusignan escapee Clive Forde shot dead during armed confrontation with Joint Services

Heavy gunfire rattled the midday silence in the East Ruimveldt community on Sunday as members of the Joint Forces engaged Lusignan Prison Escapee, Clive Forde.

The man, who was on the run for close to a week, was shot dead during the armed confrontation.

Acting Police Commissioner David Ramnarine confirmed that acting on information provided by the public, the Joint Services executed an operation at approximately midday today in the East Ruimveldt ward of Georgetown which led to a confrontation with Lusignan Prison escapee Clive Forde aka El Sinkie.

Joint Services received information that Forde was hiding out in a house in the area and surrounded the house. The escapee attempted to flee and was engaged.

A 9mm pistol with live rounds was found a short distance away from where his body fell. The shooting death of the escapee comes just hours after another escapee was captured in the Berbice area.  There are now six escapees still on the run.

Three of them escaped from the Camp Street Prison three weeks ago, while the other three were part of the group of 13 that dug their way out of the Lusignan prison yard this past week.
