Man who allegedly fired shot  in Congress Place charged for threatening behaviour

A Fifty-five year old private security personnel who allegedly fired a gunshot during Sunday’s PNC Congress meeting at the party’s Congress Place headquarters, appeared in court on Thursday and was charged for threatening behaviour that breached the peace.

The man, Linden Primo who is a Guyanese born US Citizen and who works locally with a mining company as a Senior Security Officer was released on his own recognizance when he appeared before Chief Magistrate, Priya Beharry. He is to make his next court appearance on August 4, 2014.

The Prosecutions case is that Primo was at the PNC’s meeting when he reportedly fired a single gunshot while allegedly having a confrontation with a woman. While the prosecution did not object to bail, they wanted bail to be set in a substantial amount. The Magistrate disagreed and released the man on self bail.

The court was told that Primo has since launched his American passport with the local embassy. He was reportedly at Congress Place providing security for the Returning Officer’s team that was overlooking the elections. The PNC has launched an investigation into the matter.

Primo was arrested at the airport on Wednesday as he was preparing to board a US bound flight. It still remains unclear whether he was a license firearm holder.
