Police investigators are probing a deadly robbery in the East La Penitence area, which left one man dead and two of his brothers nursing gunshot wounds.
According to a Police report, 58-year-old, Fazal Shaheed of Albion Berbice, was meeting with his brothers last night at an East La Penitence home, when two armed men gained access to the house through an open door.
The men reportedly held the three brothers at gunpoint and demanded their jewellery and other valuables.
After relieving the men of their jewellery, the gunmen fired several shots at them while making their escape.
The victims were rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital where the eldest brother, Fazal, succumbed while undergoing surgery.
The two other brothers, who received gunshot injuries to their abdomens, were treated and admitted. They both live overseas.
Police investigators have recovered several spent shells from the scene and a male suspect from East La Penitence has since been taken into custody and is assisting with the investigation.
