Late night smash up leaves one dead in Berbice

The police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about after 9 pm on  Wednesday April 09, 2014, at De Edward Public Road, West Coast Berbice which resulted in the death of 30-year-old Donald Ambekar of Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo.

According to the Police, Investigations have revealed that Donald Ambekar was the driver of motor car PRR 6417, which was allegedly travelling at a fast rate, when he lost control and collided with a motor lorry.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Fort Wellington Hospital. The man was trapped in the car for close to an hour as residents desperately made attempts to pull apart the vehicle so that he could be pulled out.
A passenger in the car identified as Sookdeo Sahadeo of Bath, WCB,  received injuries and has been admitted to the Georgetown Hospital.
