Man suspected of killing Durban St. waitress found alive but crippled

A man who was wanted by the Police for the shooting death of a Chinese restaurant waitress and another woman, has been found alive but crippled.

The arrest comes more than three years after he went into hiding.

Police sources have told News Source that the suspect is in police custody after he was arrested yesterday at the home of a relative.

Investigators went to the East Coast Demerara home after receiving a tip off and were left surprised when they found the man crippled and in a wheel chair.

He was reportedly hiding out in neighbouring Suriname when he got into a confrontation with another Guyanese man and was shot to his back. The injury left him paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair.

Investigators are convinced that he is the same man who was caught on the surveillance camera of a Durban Street Chinese restaurant, shooting waitress, Debra Blackman to death.

The murder had stunned lawmen since they could not figure out a reason for the attack. The same man was also wanted for questioning for the shooting death of another woman in a minibus.  It is believed that he may have been a “killer for hire.”

News Source understands that he has been refusing to cooperate with investigators as they question him about the two murders.

He could face murder charges soon.
