Murder figures decline, but robbery under arms seeing increase -Police

In its latest crime report, which was issued today, the Police Force reported that the country has seen a 7% increase in robberies that saw firearms being used, while there has also been a 25% increase in cases of robberies where no instruments were used.

While touting a recorded 5% decrease in serious crimes in the first seven months of the year, the Guyana Police Force is dealing with an increase in cases of armed robberies with firearms.

In its latest crime report, which was issued today, the Police Force reported that the country has seen a 7% increase in robberies that saw firearms being used, while there has also been a 25% increase in cases of robberies where no instruments were used.

The country has also seen a 3% increase in reported cases of rape and a 7% increase in burglaries, while there has been a 9% decrease in Break and Enter and Larceny.

According to the Police, Guyana has also recorded 58 murders in the first seven months of this year. That figure represents a decrease in murder cases.

Most murders have been filed under the disorderly folder with 25 of those types being recorded while 16 were of a domestic nature and 11 were related to robberies.
