Police investigators in the Linden area are probing allegations of rape committed on a 12-year-old female.

Commander of ‘E’ Division, Superintendent Fazil Karimbaksh, confirmed the reports of the incident being investigated.

It allegedly took place on Sunday night, but no suspect has been arrested.

The Commander related that based on the allegations, four females, included the 12-year-old girl, joined a hire car to take them to their respective homes. After dropping three of the females to their destination and while en-route with the 12-year-old girl, the driver decided to drive into an alleyway at lower Kara Kara.

It is alleged that he brought the car to a stop in the lonely and dark bushy area and reportedly engaged in forceful sexual acts with the young girl.

The Commander said a report was made to the police and the girl was medically examined. He did not divulge the results of that examination.

The girl was discharged and sent home while police are hunting the suspect.

“He seems to be in hiding,” the Police Commander said.
