A Police Officer was among three persons remanded to prison today after being charged with being in possession of just over a pound of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The bust was made near the Cheddi Jagan Airport on March 17, 2017.
Those charged today were Police Officer, Louie Dublin, Plaisance businessman and store manager, Delvor Bunbury and Office Assistant, Gavin Harris.
They all pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to them.
The Prosecution’s case is that the Policeman was nabbed at the Lotus Restaurant at the Airport with a bag containing the illegal substance.
He reportedly admitted in a caution statement that the bag with the cocaine was given to him by the other two defendants, Delvor Bunbury and Gavin Harris.
The two were immediately arrested.
The Police officer’s attorney in a bail application, told the Court that his client collected the bag from the two men, but was unaware of its contents.
The Magistrate did not accept that explanation for bail and all three men have been remanded to prison until April. The Policeman will make his next appearance on 8th April, while the other two men will face the court again on April 10, 2017.
