Prison escapee recaptured; found under bed
The Guyana Police Force on Tuesday announced that it had recaptured prison escapee Randolph Marks. He was nabbed early on Tuesday morning just after 1:15am hiding under a bed in a house at Freeman Street in East La Penitence.
He was among four prisoners who crawled their way out of the Magistrates’ Court lock ups on Monday afternoon. One of the prisoners was recaptured moments later while another was shot dead in Berbice on Monday night during a reported armed exchange with police officers.
Randolph Marks was placed before the courts  just over two weeks ago in connection with the robbery and murder of a Patsan Trading salesman.
Escapee Keron Cummings of Sophia, who was facing a court trial for a number of robbery offences is the only prisoner who remains on the run. Police patrols have been searching several communities across the city for him.
On Monday night, the police shot and killed escapee Vickram Persaud who was before the courts facing a murder charge for a policeman. He was cornered all the way in Fort Wellington, Berbice according to the Police Force. However, his bullet riddled body was brought to the Georgetown Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
