Minster of Education, Dr. Rupert Roopnaraine is in a stable condition and alert at the Georgetown Hospital after a fainting spell at the British High Commission’s reception for visiting Prince Harry.
Roopnarine was among other government officials and guests at the residence of the British High Commissioner , when he experienced a brief fainting episode during the outdoor event.
Medical attention was rendered to him immediately and he was taken to the Georgetown Hospital for further observation. Doctors found that he was badly dehydrated.
In a statement, the Department of Public Information said he is stable, conscious and alert and receiving treatment for dehydration. He is expected to be discharged before the end of the night.
