A transgender sex worker was brutally attacked and stabbed to the neck early Tuesday in the Croal Street, Georgetown area while she carried out her trade.

The sex worker has been identified as 28-year-old Kevin Carr of Agricola, East Bank Demerara. She is also known as “Teacher girl”. According to reports, it was just before 3 o’clock on Tuesday morning when a man, described as fair in complexion, attacked and stabbed “teacher girl” a number of times to the neck.

The man who according to eyewitnesses was dressed in a “blue long sleeve hoodie” ran from the scene after committing the act. The sex worker was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital where doctors quickly took her into the operating room for emergency surgery.

One eyewitness who is also a sex worker said she believes the man is the same person who has been coming out to the corners of the street late at nights and “pretending to do business” before holding sex workers at knife point to rob them of their earnings.

A complaint has been made to the police and an investigation is underway.
