Six months jail for PPP activist found guilty of throwing faeces on Freddie Kissoon

People’s Progressive Party activist, Jason Abdulla was today found guilty of that faecal matter assault of columnist Freddie Kissoon.

His two co-accused, PPP Public Relations Officer, Kwame McKoy and self confessed former death squad member, Sean Hinds were both found not guilty.

Abdulla has been sentenced to six months in jail for the assault on the newspaper columnist. The verdict and sentence were handed down by Principal Magistrate, Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The incident took place seven years ago, but the investigation was only completed and charges filed last year.

Kissoon had just left the Nigel’s Supermarket and was making his way to his vehicle when someone threw a bucket of human waste on him.

He managed to run behind his attacker, but the man jumped into a waiting car, which sped away from the scene. McKoy and Abdullah were always considered the mastermind of the attack.

Before the Magistrate handed down her sentence this morning, Abdullah’s Attorney pleaded for leniency, but the Magistrate said the attack could not be ignored and therefore she handed down the six-month sentence, which begins immediately.
