Six Venezuelan woman charged for illegal entry after nabbed at West Coast resort

As Law Enforcement agencies seek to crack down on hotels, bars and nightclubs that may serve as hotspots for human trafficking and illegal immigration, six Venezuelan women appeared in Court today and were charged and fined for illegally entering Guyana.

The women were taken into custody during a raid at the Aracari Resort.

The six who appeared in Court were Giliano Beltran, Inchra Milores, Donigie Martinez, Amber Orocopey, Adriana Alfonso, Yarrilys Faucoult.

They all pleaded to the offence when they appeared before the Chief Magistrate.

The charge stated that the women entered Guyana illegally on the 15th December at Eteringbang and did not present themselves to an immigration officer.

Upon receiving information, investigators went to the Aracari Resort at Vreed en Hoop and conducted a raid.

The six women were found without passports or travel documents and were immediately taken into custody.

When asked why they entered Guyana illegally, they all stated through an interpreter that the authorities in Venezuela aren’t issuing passports at the moment.

Withstanding their guilty pleas and explanations, they were each fined $30,000. Failure to pay the fine could result in four weeks in jail.
