A 20 year old unemployed A’ Field Sophia man, is in Police custody following the murder of his one and a half year-old niece, Ronasha Pilgrim, of 98 North Sophia, Greater Georgetown.

The incident occurred between 03:30 -04:00 h Friday morning, at the Sophia home, where the child lived.

Investigations revealed that the young child along with her brothers, ages 10 and 12 years old, were left in the house by their father who went to work as a security guard.

The suspect allegedly broke a window of the house, entered the house and attempted to relieve the child of her earrings.

When the child started to scream, the man tossed her through a window into the swamped yard.

The body is presently at the Lyken’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Investigations are in progress.
