Sound System Manager gets bail for discharging loaded firearm outside Palm Court; Imran Khan to face the Courts on Thursday

37-year-old Safraz Khan of Campbellville was today charged and released on $50,000 bail for discharging a loaded firearm outside the Palm Court nightspot.

Video surveillance footage allegedly showed the man firing several gunshots into the air while a number of persons were hanging out in front of the business place.

Safraz Khan is the brother of businessman Imran Khan, who remains in custody in connection with the beating of a disabled man in front of the same nightclub the same day.

Imran Khan is to be charged tomorrow in relation to that incident.

During his appearance today, Safraz Khan, who was described as a sound system manager, pleaded not guilty to the discharging firearm charge.

His Attorney, Glen Hannoman, told the Court that under the section of the law where the man has been charged, the penalty for discharging a loaded firearm is just $15,000 and it is a minor charge.

However, the Prosecutor asked the Court to institute conditions to the man’s bail. The Magistrate ordered that he pay $50,000 bail and he will have to appear at the Police station every Friday until the completion of the trial.
