Speeding car wraps around tree leaving three persons injured

Three persons including the driver of a Toyota motor car  are nursing broken limbs and other serious  injuries after the driver lost control of the speeding car and slammed into a tree.

The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon on the West Coast of Berbice. The names of the injured persons have not been released but they were all rushed to a hospital.

According to eyewitness, Ron Elcock, the car was speeding along the roadway when the driver appeared to have lost all control and the vehicle found itself wrapped around a tree. Elcock said along with other passersby, he assisted in getting the injured persons out of the mangled wreck. He said most of the visible injuries appeared to be lacerations and broken limbs.

Over the past week, there have been several accidents across the country during this busy holiday season. Traffic officials believe speeding was the main factor in most of the accidents. Over 100 persons have died on the country’s roadways for this year.
