Strip club dancers in custody over shooting

A number of Brazilian and Colombian dancers remain in police custody following the shooting of a taxi driver on Friday morning in Cummings Street, Alberttown.

The driver had just dropped the “dancing-girls” home from a city strip bar when an argument began. The ladies reportedly summoned someone to the scene during the argument and within moments, eyewitnesses reported that a green coloured car arrived shortly after with its occupants opening fire on the taxi driver who was shot multiple times to his body.

The 26-year-old taxi driver Leslie Wood remains in hospital in a serious condition nursing gunshot wounds to his forehead, shoulder and upper body.

The Guyana Police Force has indicated that a number of other persons are being sought in connection with the shooting incident.
