The Diamond, East Bank Demerara man, Anansuaruddin Khan, did not have much to say as he made his way in and out of the courtroom.
During the hearing, the Court was told that Khan, who operates a taxi, was entrusted to take a 7-year-old girl home by one of her parents.
However, when the child reached home, she complained to relatives that the man had allegedly unzipped her clothes and sexually assaulted her with his fingers. The incident allegedly occurred earlier this month.
A complaint was immediately made to the Police by the girl’s family and the taxi driver was arrested and charged.
Magistrate Judy Latchman granted him bail in the sum of $150,000 after listening to the facts of the case. She ordered that he makes his next court appearance on October 13, 2017.
