Showing no emotions, an 18-year-old young man walked out of the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court a free man today after the relatives of the 41-year-old woman he crashed into and killed, agreed to accept compensation and no longer evidence against him.

The teen, Dwayne Griffith, was charged back in May 2016 with causing the death of dance teacher, Nerisa Spencer.

The woman was walking along Lamaha Street when the car being driven by Griffith slammed into her.  She died on the spot.  The then 17-year-old youth was an unlicensed driver who had reportedly removed the car from a relative’s yard without that relative’s permission.

In Court today, relatives of the late dance teacher made it known that they would no longer be interested in prolonging the case because they have agreed to accept $3 million in compensation.

With that, the court was forced to dismiss the charges and bring an end to the case.
