Police in Essequibo are searching for the ex-boyfriend of a teenage girl, who doused her and her current boyfriend with acid while they were asleep.
The suspect’s name has been given as Kyle Goddette.
He has been on the run since Saturday. There are reports that he was initially held by Police at Charity but managed to escape while in the washroom.
Relatives have said that 17-year-old, Susana Culpepper was in bed with her boyfriend at his home early on Saturday morning, when they both felt a burning sensation overcoming their bodies and noticed her ex-boyfriend running away from the scene.
The man reportedly doused the two with acid through a window of the wooden house.
The two were rushed to the hospital in the area.
However, the young woman was transferred to the Georgetown Hospital for more treatment, as her injuries appeared worse and life-threatening.
She remains hospitalsed in a serious condition as investigators look for the boyfriend.
