Third Casino robbery suspect arrested with wet money

A third suspect in the armed Ramada Princess Casino robbery has been arrested by police investigators and will face charges in the Court early this week along with the two other suspects.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told News Source this morning that the police arrested the third man , who he did not identify, in a house in Vreed-en-Hoop on Sunday night.

The man was also found with a large quantity of wet cash and valuables that investigators believe were taken from the Casino and its patrons, when four armed men stormed the business place early Friday morning.

The Crime Chief said the police investigators are continuing their search for at least two other suspects in the robbery. He did not say whether the police were receiving their leads from those already in custody.

A security guard who ended his duty at the Ramada Princess Casino just three hours before the business place was stormed by gunmen, has also been arrested by the Police as they continue their probe.

Police investigators believe that the security officer was the mastermind of the robbery and may have been the one who pulled the team together to carry out the robbery. One of the four gunmen was arrested when police responded to the report of a robbery at the Casino.

He was cornered in a room at the casino and later arrested by the police. They found him with the security guard’s shotgun and a quantity of money.

He was reportedly left behind in the building while the other three made good their escape, also leaving behind a car which was reported hijacked.

According to a senior investigator familiar with the probe, it is suspected that the security officer provided the gunmen with all of the security lay out and details about the casino. Investigators believe there may have also been several rehearsals.

Five persons including employees of the casino, were shot when the gunmen barged into the casino just before 4 o’ clock on Friday morning and demanded money from the cashiers and gamblers.

An undisclosed amount of foreign currency was carted off from the scene by the gunmen.
