Three Immigration Officers and security officer charged in Dynamic cocaine bust

Three local immigration officers and a security guard attached to Roraima Airways were on Friday charged and remanded to prison in connection with the discovery of a quantity of cocaine in the baggage hold of a Dynamic Airways jet which arrived at New York’s JFK Airport from Georgetown, Guyana.

All four individuals pleaded not guilty and were remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan until March 10, 2016.

Those charged were Immigration Officers, 29-year-old Oral David of Non Pariel Park, East Coast Demerara, 24- year-old Orin Harris of Timehri and 24-year-old Raduskie Wright of New Housing Scheme Corriverton, Corentyne.

The fourth person was the Roraima Airways security guard, 29-year old Dianne Jackson of Soesdyke.

The discovery of the cocaine was reportedly made by a baggage handler at the JFK Airport, who found the small package of cocaine while clearing the luggage from aircraft just after it arrived from Guyana. He alerted US security agents and the probe began.

Investigators said the four persons conspired to stash the 1.3 kgs of cocaine on the aircraft during loading in Guyana. The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit in Guyana and the Narcotics Branch of the Guyana Police Force led the local probe with assistance from the US authorities.
