Three killed in Carifesta Avenue smash up

The three persons were rushed to the Georgetown Hospital with multiple injuries. One of them was pronounced dead on arrival while the other two passed away as doctors battled to save their lives.

Three killed in Carifesta Avenue smash up

Three persons lost this lives this evening in a smash up between a canter truck and a motor car on Carifesta Avenue in Georgetown.

The incident took place just before 10 o’ clock as the two vehicles were heading in opposite directions on the main roadway.

Reports indicate that both vehicles were being driven at a fast rate when one of the drivers lost control and ended up in the path of the other vehicle.

The three persons were rushed to the Georgetown Hospital with multiple injuries. One of them was pronounced dead on arrival while the other two passed away as doctors battled to save their lives.

Police Commander for A’ Division, Assistant Commissioner Clifton Hicken confirmed the deaths to News Source.

Two of the dead persons have been identified as a husband and wife. Their names have been given as Robert and Stacy Pyle.

The husband, Robert Pyle served as a Sergeant in the Guyana Defence Force while his wife worked as a nurse at the Davis Memorial Hospital.  The third victim was the driver of the truck and he has been identified as Linden Eastman.

The Guyana Fire Service had to be called out to assist in cutting the vehicles a part to get the victims out.

The Guyana Police Force has launched an investigation.
