Three years in jail for Linden cocaine mule

A week after he was nabbed at the Cheddi Jagan Airport with four pounds of cocaine in his luggage,  Linden resident and former Policeman, Travis Mendonca was sentenced to three years in jail after pleading guilty to drug trafficking.

The 31-year-old man, who was earlier this year deported from Trinidad and Tobago, was getting ready to board a New York bound flight when officers attached to the Narcotics Branch, found the illegal substance stashed in his suitcase.

He was only recently been granted a US visa and was about to make his first trip to the US.

During his appearance at the Magistrates’ Court, Mendonca opted not to waste the Court’s time and was handed the three year jail sentence along with a fine.

Meanwhile, the Guyana Police Force is seeking the whereabouts of a Plaisance man, who it believes may be linked to Mendonca’s drug trafficking efforts.
