Trans Guyana plane goes missing; search and rescue begins

Search and rescue operations were launched on Saturday morning in Guyana after a single engine aircraft belonging to Trans Guyana Airways went missing over the Mazaruni area just after take off from an interior location.

It is believed that two persons including the pilot, were on board the aircraft at the time that all contact was lost. Helicopters belonging to the Guyana Defence Force and other small planes from other airlines launched a mid morning operation to locate the possible crash site.

The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority is also assisting with the search and rescue efforts.
