Travelspan makes emergency return to JFK after compression problems

A Travelspan flight was forced to make an emergency return and landing at New York’s JFK International Airport early on Tuesday morning just over two hours after take off.

Chief Operations Manager at Travelspan Guyana, David Goberdhan, explained to News Source that it was just 2 and a half hours after the flight left the JFK Airport bound for Guyana, that it was forced to return to the airport after the 767-300 aircraft developed “compression” problems with one of its engines.

He said all passengers are safe and were taken care of and booked on another flight to Guyana. That extra flight will leave the JFK Airport on Tuesday evening for Georgetown.

The aircraft that developed the mechanical issue is being examined by the airline’s mechanical and technical teams. Another aircraft has been put into service and will ferry the affected passengers to Guyana and pick up the other flights being operated by the airline.

The airline which works through a partnership with Vision Airways, is operated by Guyanese businessman Nohar Singh.
