Two East LaPenitence men remanded for murder of money changer

At the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court today, 24-year-old labourer Kerwin DeSantos and George Hope, who is also 24-years-old, were remanded to jail after being charged with the murder of America Street money changer, Shawn Nurse aka Fabulous.

The money changer was shot dead two Sundays ago during a robbery on America Street. Surveillance video recordings aided the Police in their investigation of the matter. Four men were initially arrested, but charges were only filed against the two who were taken to Court today.

In Court, the two were not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge of murder. The Court heard that they are both from the same East La Penitence area.

Both men were remanded to jail and will have to return to Court on the 21st February when the matter will continue.

The brazen Sunday midday murder left persons shocked. The money changer was well known in the area, but was also previously robbed in the same area.
