Two elderly watchmen beaten to death in separate incidents

Police investigators are probing the death of two security guards in two different parts of the country.

In Berbice, a 78-year-old watchman was found badly beaten on August 1, 2013 at his work site. He was rushed to the Georgetown Hospital where he died on August 4th. According to a police report, the man who has been identified as Frederick Minty was allegedly beaten by two while he was on duty on the night of August 1. The identity of the suspects has not been revealed as the investigation continues.

And in the mining district of White Water, Konawaruk, the lifeless body of  watch man Darndey King was discovered in a mining camp on 30th July, 2013.  The 64-year-old man was reportedly beaten to the head and about his body and left to die at the scene. No one has been arrested in the matter.

There have been a number of similar attacks in several mining districts located in Guyana’s heavily forested interior region.

A post-mortem examination was performed by Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh on the body of Darndey King and the cause of death has been given as brain hemorrhage due to multiple blunt trauma.
