Venezuelan “sex workers” fined for illegal entry

Four Venezuelan nationals who admitted in Court today that they are sex workers, were fined $30,000 and ordered deported after admitting to illegally entering Guyana.

The four Venezuelan nationals were identified today in Court as Mario Brito, Edis Herera, Yisneidi Sidian and Sindian Herera.

They told the Court that they are all in their 20’s. 

The Court was told that the four were arrested on the 2nd February at Eteringbang after they entered Guyana without presenting themselves to an immigration officer.

According to the Prosecutor, the four were stopped by Police and questioned and later charged for the offence.

When asked why they came to Guyana illegally, the four Venezuelans said they came to conduct prostitution activities in the mining areas.

After they all pleaded guilty to the charge of illegally entering Guyana, the Magistrate fined them $30,000 each and ordered that they be deported.
