Wales man who strangled wife to death succumbs to injuries

One day after strangling his reputed wife to death, a West Bank Demerara man has now succumbed to his self inflicted injuries.

Forty-year-old Nigel Glasgow died early this morning after Police rushed him back to the hospital following his complaints of pain.

The man was taken to the West Demerara Hospital yesterday after he was found lying next to the dead woman at their Wales home.  He was found with injuries to his neck and it was also suspected that he may have ingested a poisonous substance.

After he was treated yesterday for his injuries, he was released into the care of law enforcement as they continued their investigations.

According to the Police Public Relations office, late last night, Glasgow was rushed back to the hospital after he started to cry out for pains. He died while undergoing treatment.

Neighbours said Glasgow and his reputed wife, Dianna Hernandez, appeared to be having a loud argument when suddenly screams were heard coming from the house.

By the time neighbours rushed over, the woman was already dead.  In the past month alone, three Guyanese women have been killed by their reputed husbands. In two of those cases, the men died after reportedly ingesting poison when they completed their murderous act.

These recent incidents have once again thrown the light on domestic violence in Guyana and its growing problem.
