West Bank Demerara Miner burnt to death at Mazaruni mining camp
Murders and robberies continue to plague the mining community and Police investigators are once again probing the death of yet another miner.
According to the Guyana Police Force Press Office, 23-year-old miner Kester Anderson of Samroo Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara was burnt to death during a fight with another man at the Barakat Backdam in the Mazaruni area.
Reports state that the incident occurred on Sunday, August 3. The two men were reportedly involved in a heated argument and altercation when  Anderson was beaten and doused with gasoline and set on fire.
He was rushed to a Georgetown Hospital where he died on Tuesday. The suspect in the brutal crime is still to be arrested and Law Enforcement has not released any details about his identity.
There have been several murders in the mining community over the past year. Mining groups continue to raise concern about security and the lack of police presence at many of the mining camps.
