Whale washes up on West Coast Berbice seaside

A whale measuring close to 10 feet in length beached at #37 village on the West Coast of Berbice on Thursday. Several residents and fishermen made efforts to get the whale back out to sea as it was discovered to still be alive.

A Region 5 official told News Source that the Regional office has informed the relevant authorities in Georgetown about the situation and officials have indicated that they will travel to the area.

The discovery was made by fishermen who immediately alerted regional officials and began their efforts to get the mammal back out to sea.

Back in December, another whale got beached at the Kitty Seawalls in Georgetown and eventually died.
