WhatsApp and Social Media messages lead to arrest of Guyanese man in JFK Drug ring probe

A former Guyanese airline employee has been arrested in Brooklyn as US Federal Agents probe a drug ring with links to New York’s JFK International Airport.

The 32-year-old man has been named in US Court documents as Jermaine Horatio.

According to the court documents, he was taken into custody after agents intercepted his text messages and social media messages and suspected that he was involved in a drug trafficking ring using contacts at the JFK Airport.

Horatio was charged last Thursday in a Brooklyn Federal Courthouse and remanded to prison.
The US Court documents point out that Horatio was born in Guyana but was resident in the United States and worked at the JFK Airport.

Agents used a confidential source who had regular contact with the Guyanese man about criminal activities.

His phone calls, text messages, Whatsapp messages and social media messages came under scrutiny and in several instances, he was found to be discussing drug shipments from Guyana through the JFK airport with the confidential source.

He has been under the watch of the US Authorities since 2016.  See part of the collection of exchanges below:
