“Whistle” Charged for Privilege nightclub shooting

Former murder accused, Leon Duncan aka “Whistle”, was today remanded to prison for the shooting incident that took place in the Privilege nightclub, injuring two persons.

Today he was charged with attempted murder and discharging a loaded firearm.

The Prosecution’s case is that “Whistle” was approached by three individuals in the club and an altercation started.

It was then that he allegedly whipped out his firearm and fired a number of shots in the packed nightclub, forcing many of the patrons to run for cover.

He was arrested after being identified in surveillance video recordings taken in the club on the night of the incident.  His next court appearance will be on February 26, 2017.

Last year, he was held for questioning along with a number of other persons as investigations were launched into the shooting death of a youth outside the Rio Nightclub.

He was subsequently released as the investigation continued. The case remains open and he is still considered a suspect in the murder.

In February 2016, he was freed of the 2013 murder charge that was brought against him for the shooting death of businessman, Imtiaz Roopnarine at the Cool Square Hotel. A

A jury found him not guilty of the Cool Square murder.
