A 32-year-old Guyanese woman was busted at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport on Saturday morning with cocaine in the false sides of her suitcases.
The woman who has been identified as Shellon Kandhai was an outgoing passenger who was about to board a flight to New York. Agents of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit made the bust while carrying out a check on the woman’s suitcases.
Reports state that the cocaine was found stashed in the false sides of her suitcases. It weighed just over five pounds.
She was immediately arrested and placed in the custody of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit to be questioned.
Drug trafficking charges could come against her as early as Monday.
