Woman charged for attempted murder after stabbing boyfriend over baby mama’s visit

A West Ruimveldt woman, who got fed up of her reputed husband’s “child mother” visiting their home has found herself facing an attempted murder charge, after stabbing the man.

39-year-old, Kendra Grant, was granted bail in the sum of $150,000 bail after appearing before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore to face the attempted murder charge.

Court documents revealed that on the 12th November, 2018 at West Ruimveldt, with the intent to commit murder, Grant wounded Otis Bailey by stabbing him to the abdomen.

The Court was told that Grant and Bailey shared a common law relationship and a home, but they got into an argument over the regular visits to the home by the man’s ex-girlfriend who is also the mother of his child.

The argument reportedly turned into a scuffle and it is alleged that the woman armed herself with a knife and stabbed the man to the abdomen.

The woman’s Attorney said it was a crime of passion and his client should be granted reasonable bail.

The Magistrate granted that bail, despite the objections of the Prosecutor.

The accused has been ordered to return to Court on December 21 for the continuation of the case.
