A woman who is an alleged victim of domestic violence has reportedly retaliated by killing her abuser.

The dead man has been identified as Alfro Adams, who was the reputed husband of the murder suspect.

In a statement, the Police said the woman, who recently fled her common-law home in the North West District along with her eight-month-old toddler, is now being sought by the police for questioning in relation to the murder.

The tragic incident occurred yesterday at home of the woman’s aunt at Dredge Creek, Upper Pomeroon River, where the woman and baby were seeking refuge.

Investigations revealed that the 30-year-old suspect and the deceased shared a six year relationship and during those six years, she was badly beaten by him.

As a result of constant abuse by the man, especially when intoxicated, the suspect, a craftswoman, moved to her aunt’s home and sought shelter.

However, soon after her alleged abuser followed and was allowed to join her company.

Yesterday about 12:00hrs, the man accused his reputed wife of being unfaithful and dealt her a slap and in an apparent fit of rage, she allegedly stabbed him in the right side chest with a pair of scissors and fled the scene.

The man who was a labourer by profession, bled profusely and was rushed to the Charity Hospital where he was treated and admitted but succumbed at 17:00hrs. The body is presently at the Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
