A 25-year-old mother of one, died on the spot this morning in a horrific accident on the West Bank of Demerara.
The dead woman has been identified as Alana Ramsarran of Eccles. The accident occurred this morning along the Schoonard Public Road.
Reports state that Ramsarran was the driver and only occupant of motorcar PWW-972, when she suddenly lost control and swerved into the lane of a mini-bus that was traveling in the opposite direction. The result was a head on collision.
The driver and several passengers of the mini-bus were badly injured and had to be rushed to the West Demerara hospital.
Ramsaran was declared dead on arrival. An investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
There were at least two other fatal accidents in two other parts of the country on Saturday. Guyana has one of the highest road fatality rates in the Caribbean.
