Defending champs St. Anglea’s continue to impress in Courts Pee-Wee

The annual Courts Pee-Wee Boys Under-11 Schools football Championship has reached its round-of 16 stage and defending champions St. Anglea’s Primary made a strong statement in their title retention hopes as they netted five of the 14 goals scored on Saturday at the Banks DIH Thirst park Ground to defeat Mae’s Primary 5-0.

The Thomas Street based unit route was led by the in- form Seon Cato who scored a hat-trick to move nine goals in the tournament to date.

Cato scored in the 8th, 16th and 24th while Antwoine Vincent made conversions in the 18th and 28th. The other matches saw a closer score line in terms of the score line, as Nicholas Alphonso goal in the 20th allowed Marian Academy to edge Winfer Garden 1-0.

Similarly, former champions Tucville went down to St. Stephens’s via Jequan Cole in the 10th; F.E. Pollard also went down to Stella Maris 1-0 from a Jonathan Dos Santos goal in the 32nd.

St. Pius edge Redeemer Primary with early goal by Tyler Lyle in the 9th while North Georgetown overcame St. Margaret’s 1-0 in a highly competitive match that was decided when Shilo Adams scored in the 31st.

Meanwhile, St. Agnes continues to   impress as they overcame a fighting South Ruimveldt 1-0 when David Xavier netted in the 19th.

The final game of the day saw West Ruimveldt ease past St. Gabriel’s 3-0 with goals by Tyrese Payne (6th), Tyrese Jeffrey (19th) and Trevor Bendt (21st).

There would not be further elimination since the remaining teams will be vying for positions one to sixteen until the tournament concludes on November 19.
