St. Angela’s wins Courts Pee-Wee Football Championships again

St. Angela’s won the 5th annual Courts Pee-Wee football Championships for the second consecutive year when they managed to pull off a 1-0 win against a battling St. Agnes on Sunday at the Banks DIH Thirst Park Ground.

The win for the boys in green and khaki came as a result of a Seon Cato goal in the 12th minute as the young talented player moved his tally to 11 goals and was deemed the championship’s leading goal scorer.

In the third place  match, Kenneth Gordon scored in the 24th minute to lead the West Ruimveldt to a 1-0 win over St. Pius.

At the presentation ceremony, President of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Wayne Forde said he was pleased with the match noting that the Federation was pleased with the work of the Petra Organisation, while adding that development at this age group is imperative for the development of football in Guyana.

Meanwhile, Courts Finance Manager, Neil Boucher, was elated over the success of the tournament and the impact it has made in the players lives over the years. He also pledged that the company will continue to support the championship.

Banks DIH’s Non- Alcoholic Brand Manger Clayton McKenzie   said that his company continues to see to the importance of the event and challenged all the young ones to be supreme as their “Malta Supreme”.

Co- Director of the Petra Organisation, Troy Mendonca hailed the tournament a success once again and was pleased about the array of young talented players on show; Mendonca also disclosed that a female version of the tournament will soon   commence.

The Pee-wee championship saw 24 primary schools across Georgetown participating in the initial group stage matches after which the remaining 16 teams played for positions one to sixteen.
