23-year-old man remanded to jail over armed robbery of money changer

The Court heard that on the day the 29th July, at Longden Street, Georgetown, with the aid of an accomplice, Sinclair allegedly robbed money changer Rickford Richardson of $120,000 cash and shot him during the process.

23-year-old, Akeem Sinclair, who is suspected of robbing a money changer by violent means was remanded to jail on Tuesday.

The money changer was shot to the thigh during the robbery.

During his first Court appearance before the Chief Magistrate, Sinclair, who worked as a porter with a local distribution company, was not required to enter a plea to the charge.

The Court heard that on the day the 29th July, at Longden Street, Georgetown, with the aid of an accomplice, Sinclair allegedly robbed money changer Rickford Richardson of $120,000 cash and shot him during the process. 

The accused and his accomplice would later make their escape on a motorcycle. 

The Police Prosecutor objected to bail based the victim remains hospitalized  because of the gunshot wound.

It was noted that Sinclair was positively identified by the victim. Bail was denied and the accused was reminded to prison until later this month.
