$70,000 bail for vendor found with stolen articles

A Stabroek Market Vendor was today charged and released on $70,000 bail by the Chief Magistrate, after he was charged for knowingly receiving stolen articles.

The articles were worth more than $1million.

The vendor, Kelson Adams of Cummings Street, Georgetown stood before Chief Magistrate Ann Mclennan and denied any wrong dealings.

But the Court was told that between the 6th and 14th December, at Stabroek Market, Adams received three car batteries, a generator and three audio amplifiers, all worth $1.4 million and belonging to Leonard Young, who had reported them stolen.

The Police Prosecutor had no objections to bail. However he told the Court that all of the stolen items were recovered at the home of the vendor.

The vendor professed his innocence and was granted bail in the sum of $70,000.  He will return to Court on January 3, 2018.
