A young officer of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit who attempted to extort money from an outgoing passenger will be fired, according to senior sources at the drug enforcement agency.

The man was questioned after an outgoing passenger claimed that he attempted to extort money from her by claiming that marijuana had been found in her bag, and he could help her out.

The woman became furious and asked the man to see his supervisor. It was at that stage that he handed her back her travel documents as she recorded the exchange on her cellphone.

The CANU officer was reportedly working in cahoots with another airport security personnel.
