An argument over a phone that was reportedly stolen has left a Friendship, East Bank Demerara man dead and his assailant on the run.

A police report this evening revealed that 33-year-old Marlon Peters of Goblin Dam, Friendship got into an argument with a 27-year-old man from the same area over a phone that went missing when the two worked in the interior region a while ago.

According to an eyewitness report to the Police, Peters was walking away from the other man when he was attacked from behind and stabbed to his upper back and the side of his abdomen.

He collapsed on the road and the assailant who has been identified to the Police, ran from the scene.

The injured man was rushed to the hospital but it was too late as Doctors pronounced him dead.

A kitchen knife was found at the scene but it had no blood stains. Investigators have launched a search for the suspect.
