The shooting incident took place early Sunday morning, and according to reports, Lyken and another man were having a conversation in a vehicle when they were ordered out of the vehicle by a masked gunman.

Police in Barbados are investigating the shooting death of a Guyanese man in the island.

Dead is 46-year-old Eton Lyken who lived in the parish of St Michael.

Lyken lived in Barbados for a number of years and owned and operated a number of businesses including a popular bakery and variety store.

The shooting incident took place early Sunday morning, and according to reports, Lyken and another man were having a conversation in a vehicle when they were ordered out of the vehicle by a masked gunman.

Both men were robbed of a quantity of cash and valuables, before the gunman shot Lyken to the head and escaped from the scene.

The other man was left unhurt.

Lyken’s reputed wife, Mia Kirton, told the Barbados Today newspaper that her partner was always someone to look out for others and she needs justice for his death.

““I still can’t believe it. I still can’t believe it. I would really like justice to be served because a man dead for no reason. Someone who use to help out any and everybody. Junior use to pick up people from off of the road and help them. He would pick up people off of the road to come and work. And I use to tell Junior be careful who you picking up off of the road, because everybody you smile at ain’t you friend”, the woman told Barbados Today.

The investigation into the latest murder in Barbados is continuing.

The island has been trying to address an upsurge in violent crimes and murders for this year.
