Linden taxi driver on $200,000 bail over “foreign” marijuana bust

The Linden taxi driver who was held earlier this week during a CANU operation with over one kilogram of foreign marijuana appeared in Court this morning and was granted $200,000 bail.

The accused, Ezera Greene aka “Dingo” appeared before Magistrate Wonda Fortune at the Linden Magistrates’ Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge of being in possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Greene was arrested after CANU agents followed his car from the Linden bus park in Georgetown all the way to the Linden/Soesdyke Highway and moved in and conducted a search of his car.

The marijuana was found stashed in the car. His two passengers were also arrested initially but later released after it was ascertained that they were not connected to the illegal drug.

As part of the conditions for his bail, Greene who lives in Linden has to surrender his passport and visit the Police station in the area every last Friday of the month for the duration of his case.

The matter comes up again in Court early in the new year.
