Pakistani nationals ordered deported after attempt to travel to Canada with fake passports

Two Pakistani nationals were on Thursday fined $100,000 and ordered deported from Guyana when they appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to face charges of forgery.

Forty-year-old, Arshad Mahood Mughal and 33-year-old Asian Riaz Mughal were arrested by Guyanese law enforcement officials after they attempted to leave Guyana for Canada using fake passports.

The Court heard that the two men had been living in neighbouring Brazil as refugees and had crossed over to Guyana where they were both granted one month stay.

The two appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan who read the charges to them.

It was stated that on March 21st, the duo both tried to board a flight with forged Passports. The men pleaded guilty to the charges and were fined and ordered deported.

Although their intention was to head to the Canada to seek a better life, they both begged that they be deported to Brazil.
