Police seeking public’s help in identifying woman killed in early morning accident

The Guyana Police Force is seeking the help of the public in identifying the victim of a fatal accident which occurred on Brickdam early this morning.

The body of the so far unidentified woman is presently at the Lyken’s Funeral Parlour awaiting identification and apost-mortem examination.

The body is clad in white top, orange skirt, black sneakers, sporting a boy-cut hairstyle, about 5ft 8” tall and dark in complexion; the left foot was severed as a result of the accident.

According to reports motorcar bearing license plate number, PLL 2838, was being driven by a 35-year-old labourer of ‘A’ Field Sophia, Greater, Georgetown.

The man was proceeding east along Brickdam Public Road at a fast rate to beat the change of a traffic light when he struck down the woman who was crossing the road at the time. The woman’s body was dragged for for about 35 meters and the vehicle came to a halt a short distance after. 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Emergency Medical personnel.

A breathalyzer test was administered to the driver and no alcohol was detected in his breath; he is in custody assisting with the investigation.

The probe continues.
